Xizor

The Last Jedi

Xizor is the Falleen Vigo who embodies Black Sun’s return to influence on Mandalore after the collapse of the Shadow Collective. His encounters with Jax Pavan reveal a calculating broker who treats information, favors, and future obligations as interchangeable forms of power. He first tries to make Jax indebted to him; when Jax refuses, Xizor still provides intelligence and offers a diversion, showing how his power operates through negotiated obligations as well as Black Sun’s growing influence on Mandalore.

Power on Mandalore

Mandalore’s apparent calm conceals a political vacuum. The criminal consortium called the Shadow Collective had overwhelmed the New Mandalorians; Satine’s government had fallen, and Death Watch had risen in violent opposition to the Collective, whose members included Black Sun and Hutt organizations. Hostilities subsided, a puppet Prime Minister was installed, and the planet quieted, but its uncertainty remained. Into the vacuum left by the Collective’s dissolution, Black Sun returned, with Xizor as its public face. His influence therefore belongs to a wider struggle over who can convert Mandalore’s unsettled politics into power.

Xizor’s local lieutenant, Tyno Fabris, lived discreetly in Keldabe, the old Mandalorian capital. That discretion was itself striking: Fabris was an Arkanian, a species described as inclined to regard itself as the apex of evolution, and his modest profile was unusual both for an Arkanian and for someone in Black Sun. Jax arrived in the Corsair, now carrying a Tatooine registry, and landed at a small facility in the shadow of the MandalMotors tower. The setting links Xizor’s influence to an unobtrusive local network rather than to an openly displayed political office.

The First Bargain

When Fabris learned that Jax had arrived, Xizor responded to the report by treating the rumors of Jax’s death as exaggerated and telling Fabris to honor their agreement. He was willing to give Jax what he wanted. Later, when Xizor entered the room where Jax and Fabris were, Jax recognized his approach by the wash of pheromones that preceded him. Xizor was excited but not hostile; he raised both hands in reassurance and said he had come to deal, not fight.

Their previous encounter shaped the negotiation. Jax recalled that Xizor had tried to kill him with Jax’s own lightsaber. Xizor answered that he had initially valued Jax more alive than dead, but claimed that Jax’s resistance had made the situation a choice between their lives. His account recast the attempted killing as business and self-preservation, not personal animosity. That distinction did not erase the danger between them; it was Xizor’s way of making past violence compatible with a new transaction.

Jax had offered Fabris a Pyronium gem for information. Xizor dismissed the lieutenant’s imagination as too limited: Fabris believed in things, whereas Xizor believed in people. He did not yet know what he wanted from Jax and proposed a promissory note—a right to name his price later, when he needed a service more than he needed a gem or a data device. Xizor even raised the possibility of having Jax open the Sith Holocron and give him its knowledge, while making clear that this was not what he wanted immediately. What he wanted now was to have a Jedi Knight indebted to him. Jax rejected the arrangement outright and walked out, denying Xizor the open-ended claim he sought.

Information and Leverage

The refusal did not end their dealings. At the Oyu’baat tapcaf, Tlinetha brought Jax to Fabris’s offices, where Xizor was waiting alone in Fabris’s favorite chair, his boots on the desk and his attention on the chandelier. Although Tlinetha had asserted that she knew Jax would return, Xizor seemed surprised to see him. Their second meeting thus began with a small reversal: Jax had come back, but not because Xizor had confidently summoned him.

Xizor offered intelligence instead of insisting on the earlier promissory note. Vader’s advance message had been directed to the Both system, but neither Vader nor his forces had landed on any planet there. Xizor reported extraordinary activity around Kantaros Station. He described it as a former Republic military depot and medical facility, still inhabited by civilians but now apparently used by the Galactic Empire as a dumping ground for high-level prisoners of war. That distinction gave Jax a lead without claiming that Vader had gone to ground on one of the system’s planets.

A Limited Alliance

Jax inferred from Xizor’s report that Vader was at Kantaros Station and needed to draw him away before he could go further with Thi Xon Yimmon. Although Jax refused material aid, he asked whether Xizor could create a diversion. Xizor considered the request and said he could arrange one that would draw Vader back to Coruscant, within hours.

The offer demonstrates both the reach and the limits of Xizor’s assistance. He can provide useful intelligence and claims the ability to redirect Vader through a diversion, but the exchange remains a negotiation rather than a friendship: Jax seeks a specific intervention and continues to resist becoming Xizor’s debtor. Across the two meetings, Xizor shifts from demanding a future claim on a Jedi to offering a concrete service. The information and proposed diversion advance Jax’s immediate objective, while leaving Xizor’s longer-term price unresolved.
